Chlorella provides the health benefits of beta-carotene

Chlorella is an excellent source of beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant. In addition to its cleansing and protecting benefits, beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A, which is essential to good health.

Like other potent antioxidants, beta-carotene has been show to protect from cancer and heart disease. It also protects you from dangerous free radicals that cause premature aging and disease.

Antioxidants are an important part of good health. As we age, a decrease in RNA and DNA, our cells’ building blocks, makes it hard for cells to regenerate. This is what leads to aging and degenerative disease. Antioxidants aid in continued cell regeneration, allowing you to look and feel younger for longer.

Beta-carotene also has positive benefits for the immune system, allowing your body to naturally protect itself from viruses, bacterias, and other dangers.

In addition to its powerful antioxidant benefits, beta-carotene provides your body with a supply of vitamin A, which is essential for health skin, vision, and the immune system.

Because Chlorella is such a potent source of beta-carotene, adding Chlorella supplements to your daily health regimen offers all of these wonderful health benefits. Visit GreenPath Supplements to learn more.

Chlorella detox guidelines for better health

Chlorella is naturally high in chlorophyll, nature’s most powerful detoxifier. Chlorophyll combined with a wide range of other natural antioxidants make Chlorella one of the most effective cleansing supplements capable of cleansing your body of heavy metals, toxic chemicals, and dangerous free radicals.

It’s important to remember, though, that beginning a Chlorella detox regimen is an important first step in a lifetime commitment to better health and well being. In addition to taking Chlorella, follow these guidelines to ensure a long, healthy life:

Drink plenty of filtered water.

Water is essential to the detoxification process. However, tap water has been shown to contain mercury and other dangerous heavy metals. For maximum health benefit, drink filtered water throughout the day for an easier transition and detoxification.

Break a sweat.

Sweating is the body’s natural detoxification mechanism. Be sure to get plenty of exercise each day to allow your body to naturally release toxins through your pores.

Avoid processed foods, sodas, and chemically altered produce and meat.

Did you know that many of the toxins you ingest come directly from the food you put into your body? Processed foods usually contain high fructose corn syrup, which has been shown to contain mercury in trace amounts. Soda cans contaminate their contents with heavy metals in addition to unhealthy chemicals used to manufacture them. And of course, produce is often treated with dangerous toxin pesticides. Commercially manufactured fresh meat often comes from animals fed steroids or other dangerous growth hormones that can even cause cancer. Buy organic whenever possible to ensure minimum contamination through foods and drinks.

Take Chlorella every day.

These guidelines for a healthy lifestyle can decrease your natural contamination level, but unfortunately in this day and age they can’t protect you completely. Even organic produce is often exposed to trace amounts of chemicals present in soil, and commercial water filtration devices cannot remove everything from your water. Adding Chlorella to your daily health regimen will cleanse your body of the heavy metals and toxins that you’re exposed to in your daily life.

Chlorella’s green lifeblood, Chlorophyll

Chlorella is nature’s most concentrated source of chlorophyll. Also known as plant “blood,” chlorophyll’s cell structure is close to hemoglobin, the iron-rich red blood cells that transport oxygen throughout the human body. One of the strongest detoxifying agents on Earth, chlorophyll’s wide array of health benefits include cleansing of the bloodstream, kidneys, liver, and bowels.

Chlorella’s high chlorophyll content is behind a number of its unique health benefits, including:

  • Tissue growth and repair
  • Aids in the distribution of magnesium to cells and tissue throughout the body
  • Body detox to remove heavy metals and other dangerous chemicals
  • Increased oxygen supply throughout the body through stimulation of red blood cells
  • Reduced cancer risk by neutralizing free radicals
  • Natural deodorizing properties that reduce bad breath and body odor

Chlorella naturally fights seasonal allergies & hay fever

If you’re one of the millions of people who suffer from seasonal allergies or “hay fever,” spring is probably one of your least favorite times of year. Seasonal allergies are caused by an immune reaction to pollen, mold, and other irritants in the air. In the spring time when plants are blooming, pollen is abundant, triggering an these allergies.

The symptoms of seasonal allergies are abundant, but it can feel like a prolonged sinus cold, including sinus pressure, headaches, itchy, red eyes, sneezing, coughing, and sore throat. In severe cases, seasonal allergies can result in asthma attacks, difficulty breathing, and even death due to respiratory problems.

Because seasonal allergies are caused by an overactive immune system, Chlorella has been shown to help patients who suffer from hay fever by regulating this reaction. Chlorella is a natural immune system booster, but it also aids in healthy functioning of the immune system. People who take Chlorella every day have reported a drastic decrease in seasonal allergy symptoms, with some even reporting that symptoms diminished completely.

In addition to supplementing your diet with Chlorella, people who suffer from hay fever should take the following precautions to reduce their symptoms and avoid complications:

  • Stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed in the morning when pollen levels are highest.
  • Consider using an air filter to reduce irritants and increase air quality in your home.
  • Avoid line-drying sheets and bedding to prevent pollen from collecting. Hypoallergenic and organic bedding may also help decrease symptoms.
  • In addition to Chlorella, allergy sufferers can also take over the counter anihistamines and sinus medications to relieve symptoms.

Chlorella, a natural source for 19 amino acids

Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins and cells, Therefore, they are considered the building blocks of life. Because amino acids are crucial to cell matter and development, about 75% of the body is composed of 20 different amino acids. These building blocks are responsible for every function of the human body.

There are two kinds of amino acids, essential and nonessential. Nonessential amino acids occur naturally in the body. Essential amino acids are not produced naturally in the body, so they must come from diet or supplements.

Chlorella is a natural source of 19 of these amino acids. Chlorella supplementation ensures that your body is well stocked with these crucial building blocks, particularly the essential amino acids that must be ingested through supplementation.

Here are the 19 amino acids found naturally in Chlorella and how they aid in health body function:

  • Arginine – Assists in wound healing, strengthens immune system, promotes secretion of health hormones, increases sperm count, helps decrease body fat.
  • Lysine – Essential amino acid that helps growth, helps the body absorb calcium, maintains healthy blood vessels.
  • Histidine – This semi-essential amino acid is especially important for children. People who suffer rheumatoid arthritis have also been shown to lack adequate levels.
  • Phenylalanine – An essential amino acid is a natural antidepressant that is closely related to dopamine, epinephrine, and tyrosine. It has also been used to treat Parkinson’s disease, chronic pain, and arthritis.
  • Tyrosine – A natural antidepressant that is closely related to Phenylalanine. Also used in treating Parkinson’s disease as well as Alzheimer’s disease. Natural stress reliever.
  • Leucine – An essential amino acid that helps regulate blood sugar, increases energy, maintains muscle mass, and reduces body fat during weight loss.
  • Isoleucine – This essential amino acid helps produce energy in the body, aids in the formation of hemoglobin, regulates blood sugar, and helps with health blood clot formation.
  • Methionine – Essential amino acid that aids in metabolism and growth. Helps the liver process fats. May prevent the deterioration of the nervous system that can lead to dementia. Has been used to treat Parkinson’s disease, AIDS, chronic pain, and acute pancreatitis.
  • Valine – An essential amino acid that aids in muscle metabolism, tissue repair and growth.
  • Alanine – Supports prostate health and prevents cell breakdown resulting from rapid protein breakdown in muscles during intense exercise. Also helps balance glucose levels and regulate blood sugar.
  • Glycine – Also supports prostate health. Increases natural production of creatine, which prevents muscle breakdown. Key component of collagen, which is important for skin and connective tissue health. Aids in tissue repair and elasticity. Essential to the digestive system, central nervous system. Used to treat fatigue and memory loss due to Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, Huntington’s disease, and sleep deprivation.
  • Proline – Important to metabolism. A key component in collagen, Proline promotes healthy tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues. Also promotes formation of health bones, skin, cartilage and joints, as well as strong heart muscles and tissue reparation after injury or wound.
  • Glutamin acid – Strenuous exercise depletes the body of this amino acid, so supplementation is important during weight loss or exercise. Aids in healthy liver and kidney functioning.
  • Serine – Required for healthy metabolism of fat, tissue growht, and immune system function, especially the production of immunoglobulins and antibodies.
  • Threonine – This essential amino acid maintains protein balance in the body, aids in collagen formation, and improves elasticity of the skin. Also essential to healthy liver function and immune system function.
  • Aspartic acid – Treats chronic fatigue syndrome and helpful in sharpening mental focus and concentration. Also aids in healthy elimination of wastes within the body through the urea cycle. Increases stamina and endurance in athletes.
  • Tryptophan – An essential amino acid that promotes serotonin excretion. Serotonin promotes calm, relaxation, and sleepiness. Due to its relationship with serotonin, tryptophan may function as a natural anti-depressant and healthy sleep aid.
  • Cystine – Aids in healing of burns and wounds and breakdown of mucus in bronchitis and cystic fibrosis. Assists in supply of insulin to the pancreas. Studies have shown it may also have anti-aging effects.
  • Ornithine – Central part of the urea cycle, the body’s natural waste elimination system.

Chlorella replaces other expensive supplements

A healthy diet includes a wide range of vitamins and minerals for good health. However, modern diets often lack many of the vitamins and minerals we need. Health conscious people often try to replace these vitamins and minerals with many supplements.

Chlorella, a protein-packed whole food, replaces many of these supplements. Because these essential vitamins and minerals occur naturally in Chlorella, it is the next best thing to ingesting the vitamins through food consumption.

Here are Chlorella’s major vitamins and minerals, and a brief explanation of their function and importance in the human body:

  • Phosphorous – Strengthens bones and teeth and aids in release of energy from food.
  • Iron – Aids in production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body.
  • Calcium – Strengthens bones and teeth, improves muscle and heart health.
  • Potassium – Controls fluid balance in body and may help lower blood pressure.
  • Magnesium – Converts food to energy and aids in function of the parathyroid glands, which produce hormones essential to bone health.
  • Beta-carotene – Converts to Vitamin A in the body, which strengthens immune system, maintains skin health, and improves vision.
  • Thiamin (B1) – Helps to break down food and convert it to energy and improves nerve and muscle health.
  • Riboflavin (B2) – Maintains health of skin, eyes, nervous system, and mucous membranes. Aids in absorption of iron and helps produce steroids and red blood cells.
  • Niacin (B3) – Converts food to energy and maintains nervous system and digestive health.
  • Pyridoxine (B6) – Aids the body in the use and storage of energy from protein and carbohydrates and aids in production of haemoglobin.
  • Cobalamin (B12) – Aids in production of red blood cells, maintains nervous system health, aids in processing of folic acid.
  • Folic acid – Works with B12 to produce healthy red blood cells and reduces risk of spina bifida in unborn babies when taken by pregnant women.
  • Inositol - Helps in formation of proper cell membranes, aids nerve transmission and helps transport fats within the body. Research has also shown that inositol may naturally reduce anxiety.
  • Vitamin C – Protects cells and helps the body absorb iron from food.
  • Vitamin E – Natural antioxidant that protects cell membranes.

As you can see, many of Chlorella’s vitamins and minerals work in conjunction to ensure good health throughout the body.

Chlorella composition: What’s in Chlorella?

Chlorella is a single-celled freshwater algae. Under natural conditions, Chlorella doesn’t reproduce very quickly, but certain conditions can lead to very fast reproduction. This fast reproduction combined with Chlorella’s high protein content have led researchers to attempt mass culturing of the plant.

Chlorella is composed mostly of proteins. The amount of protein varies depending on environment and culturing methods. When the plant is cultured in a high-nitrogen environment, it contains more protein and less fat. When exposed to strong sunlight during culturing, the resulting Chlorella plant will have lower amounts of chlorophyll.

These differences in culturing environments can lead to differences in the final composition of the Chlorella plant. In general, this is the breakdown:

  • Proteins: 50%-57%
  • Fats: 10%-20%
  • Carbohydrates: 20%-30%

It’s important to note that the proteins in Chlorella are high in amino acids as well as a wide array of other nutrients, which makes Chlorella a superior source of protein.

Energy efficient CFL bulbs put you at risk for mercury poisoning

cfl bulb 300x199 Energy efficient CFL bulbs put you at risk for mercury poisoning

Compact flourescent light bulbs are often touted as an energy efficient, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional bulbs as well as a money saver. But there’s a dangerous dark side to CFL bulbs: they contain a small but dangerous amount of mercury.

CFL bulbs contain about 4 milligrams of toxic mercury in each bulb. The mercury doesn’t pose a threat if the bulb remains intact, but improper use and disposal leads to broken bulbs and mercury contamination.

The amount of mercury in CFLs is relatively small when compared to other high risk contaminants, and their benefits may outweigh the risk as long as you use caution:

  • Handle CFL bulbs carefully to avoid breaking.
  • Contact your local waste management agency or visit the official EPA CFL bulb recycling page for information on proper disposal and recycling.
  • In the event of a broken bulb:
  1. Shut off automatic ventilation systems to avoid contaminating air throughout your home and air out the room with an open window before cleaning.
  2. Carefully sweep and place fragments and powder in a glass jar with a seal. Use tape to carefully remove all of the powder.
  3. Vacuum only if absolutely necessary, and seal the contaminated vacuum bag in airtight plastic when finished.
  4. Do not washing clothing or bedding that has come in direct contact with the mercury powder. Dispose of them according to your state’s requirements for disposal of mercury-contaminated trash.
  5. Dispose of cleaning materials according to your state’s disposal requirements.
  6. Wash hands immediately after handling all materials.

For more information, visit the Energy Star website’s guidelines and warnings on CFL bulbs.

Mercury exposure isn’t limited to CFL bulbs. There are many ways that you could be exposed to this dangerous toxin. A daily regimen of chlorella ensures that any mercury you may be exposed to is safely and naturally removed from your body. Visit GreenPath Supplements for more information.
