Researchers find Chlorella lowers risk for obesity, diabetes
A new study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food suggests a link between Chlorella useage and reduction in body fat, cholesterol, and blood glucose levels.
According to an article at Natural News, researchers in the study discovered that Chlorella useage led to marked reduction in body fat, cholesterol levels, and blood glucose levels for two separate test groups: one group was considered high-risk for “lifestyle related” disease and the other was considered “healthy.” Many of the study’s subjects returned to their previous levels when Chlorella use was discontinued.
Genetic testing suggests that Chlorella useage affects genes related to unhealthy levels of body fat, cholestoral, and blood glucose levels:
“A difference in genetic expression level was found between the two studied groups at the start of the tests, and the researchers were able to identify genes with noticeable variance in expression levels resulting from chlorella intake in the high-risk factor group. These included genes involved in fat metabolism and insulin signaling pathways, which suggest that these pathways are physiologically affected by chlorella intake.” (Natural News)
